The prime period for socialization is very short and most parents do not attend to it. It is approximately from the age of 4 weeks to 18 weeks old.Socializing your pet involves giving your dog positive,enjoyable exposure to a variety of people,places and things.In the wild lessons learned during the first few months of a wolfs pup's life are critical. As he ventures out of his den, he learns to be bold where it counts-pouncing on prey ,and cautious where prudent.Puppies who live with humans need to learn that the world is a good and safe place.Puppies who are not socialized are suspicious of everything except for the very narrow range of experiences they encounter in their limited environment.The rest of the world terrifies them.

Some puppies behave confidently in new situations, with tail up or wagging , and ears forward. Others may be hesitant, with tail low. shy puppies need more time to adjust to new situations, but can become more confident if nor forced or petted bunches (you would be rewarding the fear).Here are some ideas for socializing. Always give treats

People: My pup met a person: jogging__ walking__ on roller blades__ wearing a hat___ wearing sunglasses___ In a wheel chair____ with a beard____ wearing a helmet____ on crutches___ in a stroller etc... Always give treats.

THINGS: MY PUP ENCOUNTERED: a motorcycle__ A truck___ A slippery floor___ grass_____ a tractor_____ mud_____ a car ride_____ a kiddie pool_____ a cat____ etc. Always give treats

SOUNDS( you can also buy a sound track) My pup heard noises: a baby crying__ A car honking___ a siren____ children playing____ a doorbell___ balloons popping___ clapping___ a telephone____ etc: PLACES: My puppy visited: pet supply store____ Outdoor mall____dog park_____ Baseball game_____ A busy street_______Vets office for treats_____ lake or beach___
