Doggie Training

Dog Training can be fun and easy.

We're all ready for class

All Dogs at any age can learn New Behaviors.

Experts in early childhood education claim that a person’s preschool education is more important to success then college-age experiences. This is also true of puppies. Because dog training requires a certain amount of skill and understanding of canine behavior, one of the best ways to continue your pup’s education is to enroll in a puppy training class.

Doggie Behavior Problem Prevention

Behavior problems in the adult dog are often the result of improper socialization during puppyhood and usually can be avoided. The dog is a social animal and she needs much more than just food and water. Puppy classes are structured to socialize with other dogs and people in a supervised setting.

  • All dogs, at any age, can be trained and can learn new behaviors. This includes older dogs or dogs with aggression, shyness and any bad behaviors.
  • After one Dog Private session or group class we promise parents they will see results and view dog training as easy and fun for the whole family.
  • Dogs, like all living creatures, exhibit behavior typical to their species. Dogs, as a rule, do not like living alone. A human replaces the pack. A dog should be trained according to its temperament and a dog’s human parent must learn all about the breed, what was the dog breed to do, how much exercise it involve daily to do the dogs job.
  • Optimum Window of Dog training: from birth to 6 months old.
  • Optimum time to teach Human and Dog socialization: from seven weeks to 6months old. Critical times to have your puppy meet people and pets outside the home.
  • A good dog is welcomed and a friend home and is a joy to go out in public with.

Dog Training Programs

  • Our Private Lessons are designed for the owner who wants to be an active part of their dogs training. With our basic private lessons we teach you how to train your dog. Our basic training course teaches the sit, stay, down, come and heel while on leash.
  • Our In-Kennel Dog Training programs are excellent for owners who are busy, traveling or just do not have the time to get their dogs training started. At the end of the In-Kennel dog training, we cover all commands with you and make sure that you are comfortable working with your newly trained dog. We also include a DVD of your dog's training at our facility.
  • We provide Dog Behavior Modification courses to solve issues such as: Jumping, Pulling on the Leash, Biting, Mouthing, Fearfulness, Growling, Possessiveness, Dominance, Phobias, Territorial Aggression, Fighting and more! We specialize in dog behavior problems and deal with what are considered difficult and hard to train dogs.
  • With our In Home dog training programs, we come to your home and spend several hours training your dog to ensure that they are well mannered members of your family. Our In Home training packages allow our dog trainers an opportunity to work with our clients one-on-one and to observe the dog in it's natural environment.

DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING PROGRAMS

Group Classes: Behavior problems in the adult dog are often the result of improper socialization during puppyhood and usually can be avoided. The dog is a social animal and she needs much more than just food and water. Puppy classes are structured to socialize with other dogs and people in a supervised setting.

LEVEL I Group Class: 7 Week Group Class

The first night of classes is our Dog Behavior/Dog Psychology night it will be without the dog and humans only. The next 6 weeks will be with the dog and human. The class teaches humans to communicate in dog language which will create a higher success in dog training and creating good behaviors. We humans use lots of words to communicate to each other and dogs use over 300 body gestures to communicate to one another. “We promise we won’t make the humans get down on the ground”.

Class topics: Basic Commands—Potty training- tricks- All Behavioral issues and socialization.

LEVEL II Group Class: 6 week Beginning Off-leash Dog Class

All parents want a dog to listen off the leash inside and outside of the home. Sometimes owners are surprised when their wonderfully behaved pup goes into a “relapse” or enters into a period of “juvenile delinquency.” One common complaint is “Jasper does not come when called anymore.” Congratulations Jasper parent did a great job and properly raised a well-adjusted pup who is outgoing, self confident and curious. But Jasper’s owner forgot that dog training is an ongoing process. Some of the material taught in this obedience group class will refresh your dog from the level one class basics. In addition, you will learn many new exercises and eventually gain off-leash control, and Jasper’s reliability around distractions will increase.

4-H Agility

Dog Agility 101 Foundations Class This is a 6-week class.

Agility Foundations class focuses on attention and control. Without the distractions of the equipment, we will work on getting consistent and solid stays, quick releases, and good recalls as well as beginning to train dogs to work away from their handler. Students will be encouraged to begin to work off-leash while maintaining their dogs’ attention. Target training and rear-end awareness is also addressed, as well as how to utilize toys and play as reinforcement. There is no age limit and puppies are welcome.

Dog Agility for Beginners This is a 6-week class.

In this class, you will be introduced to all of the obstacles and how they are performed. Most of the equipment will be at a reduced height for safety and to help build confidence and the proper skills. We also cover how to train contacts using a target. We will discuss how to utilize different kinds and levels of reinforcement to build drive and facilitate learning. The class may be repeated to build focus or confidence. Since the dogs will be working off-leash, Family Dog II is required and Agility Foundations is strongly recommended.

Clicker Training Dogs Class Fun Class

Clicker

Clicker –training is not someone’s new gimmick or special method. “Clicker training” is dog trainers’ slang for a positive reinforcement training system based on operant conditioning. It goes to the root of how animals learn in the natural world. Clicker training does not really depend on the clicker; or on the food. Clicker training depends on the reinforces, which may be anything the dog likes (toys, petting, etc.) presented with the correct timing in such a way that information is communicate between trainer and pet. Together you and the dog will be learning a new way of interacting. We offer group classes or private classes. Dates and information please call McNallys.

For Sign-up and Details please visit the Heath, Ohio Complete Petsmart Located on Rt. 79. Or call McNallys Dog Center.

Rally Class: Offers both the dogs and handlers an experience that is fun and energizing. The canine team moves at their own pace. Rally was designed with the traditional pet owner in mind, but it can still be very challenging for those who enjoy higher levels of competition. Rally Obedience is a sport all about fun heeling and teamwork. It takes basic behaviors and puts them together into a course where you heel around and perform each sign as you reach it. A rally course includes 10 to 20 stations, depending on the level. All obedience can be fun, and this sport reminds us of that. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional obedience. Communication between handler and dog is encouraged and perfect heel position is not required, but there should be a sense of teamwork between the dog and handler. The main objective of rally is to produce dogs that have been trained to behave in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs, in a manner that will reflect positively on the sport of rally at all times and under all conditions.
